Bacon, lechon, liempo, sisig. These are just a few delicious meals that contain one dangerous ingredient – pork.
The consumption of pork has become an inevitable part of our daily lives. Eating pork is engraved in our culture as we typically celebrate holidays by eating different variations of this mouth-watering food.
However, as exceptional as it tastes, some experts argue that it is quite unsafe for us to eat as it can contain parasites and bacteria that are harmful to our bodies.
Pigs are usually fed leftover spoiled food and even feces, thus, their bodies contain toxic substances that break down and spread all over the meat.
According to the claims of these alleged experts, these toxins remain in the pig's cells and organs, leading to the growth of parasites.
A certain study reports that the microorganism Yersinia Enteroclitic contained in pork may cause serious issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, gastrointestinal sickness, fever and cramps.
Other studies show that Ractopamine and Trichinella were found in pork. Ractopamine is a feed additive for pigs that could cause problems in reproductive health, birth defects, and even death. Trichinella is a parasitic roundworm capable of causing myalgia, endema and fever.
Fortunately, these experts suggest that cooking pork in high temperatures can get rid of these parasites and bacteria.
